National Conference on Frontiers in Chemical Science

Chief Guest, Prof. Uma Shanker Sharma, Vice Chancellor, MPUAT enumerated that both environment pollution and safety are in hands of chemist. He emphasised on use of organic fertilizers as they are much beneficial for mankind and thrown light on balanced use of eco-friendly pesticides and insecticides. Further he stated that this conference will help research scholars to overcome several challenges and will enthuse them to convert ideas into reality and will pave way towards development of new avenues in Chemical Sciences for researchers. Prof. B.P. Sharma, President, Pacific University chaired the inaugural session. He explained the theory of quantum mechanics of consciousness and conscience and research in this direction may be helpful for learning more about our self. Present researches in this direction signify the electrochemical reactions happening in the brain. Prof. Sharma also highlighted on perils of present Intellectual Property Rights Laws, especially in context of medicine and drugs for global mankind together with disadvantages of gene modifications. Prof. B.L. Verma, Guest of Honor, emphasized on importance of basic chemical reaction and their synthesis. Similarly, Prof. D.C. Mukherjee, Honorary Secretary – Indian Chemical Society, Kolkata has thrown light on implementation of research in industry for its multiple growths. Further, the invited speakers, Prof. Anshu Dandia, Rajasthan University, Jaipur spoke on nonmaterial structure, tailoring and catalytic activity. Prof. Ali Mohammad, Aligarh Muslim University, presented talk on micellar thin layer chromatography. Prof. S.K. Das, University of Calcutta, delivered lecture on chromium removal from aqueous solution using artificial neural network modeling. The conference secretary Dr. Rakshit Ameta, depicted the goal of the conference. The delegates presented their research papers in form of posters and best three presentations in Young and Senior Scientist category of each were awarded. Prof. S.S. Dulawat delivered vote on thanks and programme was convened by Dr. Surbhi Benjamin.

Conference Theme

Chemical science encompasses all related fields of science as it provides materials required by them with particular specification. No one can touch a material, which does not involve some or the other kind of chemical. New and new front line areas are added in Chemical Sciences to fulfill variety of demands of society and to do this, chemical sciences is moving ahead at a rapid pace. Newer and newer frontiers are opened up and some more are at the opening stage. Therefore, a National Conference on “Frontiers in Chemical Sciences” is being organized at this University in association with Indian Chemical Society, Kolkata so that our budding chemists can present their research outcome and have an opportunity to discuss with the Eminent Chemists of International repute to further improve their ideas.

Topics

  • Nanochemistry
  • Greeen Chemistry
  • Supramolecular Chemistry
  • Photochemistry
  • Organic Synthesis
  • Sonochemistry
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Department of Chemistry was incepted in 2011. Presently, it is being headed by Professor Suresh C. Ameta. It is still in its infant age; even then it has organized 1 International and 3 National Conferences/Seminars in last five years. The Department has published 3 books by Taylor & Francis, and Apple Academic Press, USA. The researchers are working in versatile fields of Chemistry like Photocatalysis, Green Chemistry, Nanochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, etc.

Department of PG Studiesis continuously inclined towards building the capacity of scholars and making them aware about emerging trends in research in various disciplines. During the nascent period of its inception, scholars have published Research Papers in reputed journals indexed with Elsevier, Scopus, Pubmed, IEEE etc. and has also obtained patents. The department also encourages research in newer areas which are beneficial for the society at large.

Indian Chemical Society, Kolkata is a prime body of Chemistry in India and it was instituted in 1924 by Stalwarts of Chemistry like Prof. P. C. Ray, ……… It is devoted to development of teaching and research in Chemical Sciences.
